Washing Little Stuart, beautiful babyish mouse

When Stuart was a baby, feeding time was always a very messy affair. When I was still feeding him with a fine paint brush he stayed relatively milk free, so a Q-tip was all that was needed to clean him up, but once he started feeding from an eyedropper more milk seemed to get on him than in him. As he became stronger and more squirmy it got worse. At the end I had to give him a complete bath after every feeding. He seemed to really like his baths. I made sure the temperature of the water was just the right level of luke warm and once he was in, he went completely limp, the warmth sort of seemed to put him to sleep. If I let go he would swim but when I held him he was thoroughly relaxed. I dried him off with paper tissue and then placed him in his terrarium which was heated by an electric heater pad. He would be dry in no time. The constant bathing did dry out his coat a bit but that changed soon once he was on solid food. Was I ever pleased once weaning time came around, no more nightly feedings and no more messy mousling in need of a bath. He is a gorgeous mouse now and thankfully can clean himself. He was awefully cute at bath time though :) WARNING: do not attempt to raise a pinky unless you are a very experienced animal person or it is a true orphan and there is no other choice. It is better to start with a fuzzy, a little mouse between 8 and 10 days old who has fur but whose eyes have not opened yet. You are much more likely to be successful. Music by Elizabeth ...
